Course: Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator (70-646)

 

Course Description

This course prepares students to develop the skills needed to manage a Windows Server 2008 system and to prepare to pass the Windows Server 2008, Server Administration (Exam 70-646) certification exam. This course prepares students for the Windows Server 2008, Server Administration (Exam 70-646), which is one exam in Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP) certification track. It provides an introduction to planning server roles, maintaining server security, planning and implementing data storage, implementing network load balancing, and server backups. Students will also learn about managing software deployment and versioning, monitor and configuring IPv6, server performance and capacity, Active Directory replication, scheduling server deployments, and designing a rollback contingency plan.

 

Certificate

Completion of this course certifies proficient advanced Windows administration skills based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.

 

This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs:

     •   Network Associate (MCTS) (elective)

     •   Network Administrator (MCITP)

Course Structure

This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.

 

Course Length

The estimated length of this course is 120 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.

There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Information Technology Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.
