Course: Medical Terminology II


Course Description

This course further enhances the student’s ability to use and understand medical terminology.



Completion of this course certifies proficient understanding of medical terminology based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.


This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs:

     •   Medical Office Administration (elective)


Competencies (skills you will learn)

     •   Identify basic structure of medical words

     •   Apply word building and definitions

     •   Use medical abbreviations

     •   Applications of medical terminology


Course Structure

This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.


Course Length

The estimated length of this course is 30 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.


Admission Requirements

There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Health Care Technologies Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.

Tuition is based on the number of enrolled classroom hours. High school students are exempt from tuition, but are responsible for course and program fees and the cost of textbooks.
