Course: Medical Asepsis & Government Regulations
Course Description
This course provides the guidelines for personal safety and well-being of staff and patients. The student will learn and practice the CDC guidelines for hand hygiene. They will know and apply government regulations for standard and biohazard wastes. The student will learn state regulations regarding disease reporting to the Department of Health.
Certificate
Completion of this course certifies proficient medical asepsis skills and understanding of government regulations based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.

Course Structure
This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.

The estimated length of this course is 20 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.
Admission Requirements
There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Health Care Technologies Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.
