Course: Fundamentals of Human Disease
Course Description
Fundamentals of Human Disease is a course designed to introduce students to, and enhance their understanding of, human disease. This course includes a more in depth review of all organ systems and their involvement when disease processes.
Certificate
Completion of this course certifies proficient basic understanding of disease processes based on a score of 80% or higher on competency exams. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.
This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs:
• Medical Office Administration (elective)
Competencies (skills you will learn)
• Further recognize common pathology/diseases and identify common mechanisms of disease
• Describe normal function of each system and relate diseases of system to an organ or
system failure
• Become familiar with the interdependent relationship of stress, aging and wellness
Course Structure
This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.
Course Length
The estimated length of this course is 30 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.
Admission Requirements
There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Health Care Technologies Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.
