Course: Keyboarding Basics

 

Course Description

Keyboarding Basics is an introduction to the computer keyboard and keyboarding techniques. Using drills and timed writings, this course helps students increase speed and accuracy on a computer keyboard.

 

Certificate

Completion of this course certifies proficient keyboarding skills based on a keyboarding competency exam. A Certificate of Skill Competence is available upon request.

 

This course fulfills requirements for the following Programs:

     •   Administrative Clerk

     •   Clinical Medical Assistant

     •   ECG Technician

     •   Front Office Support

     •   Medical Billing and Coding

     •   Medical Office Laboratory Technician

     •   Phlebotomy Technician

     •   Demonstrate ability to keyboard by touch

 

Course Structure

This is a competency-based course offered in open-entry/open-exit format.

 

Course Length

The estimated length of this course is 30 hours. Actual course length will depend upon your schedule and your ability to master the subject material.

 

Admission Requirements

There are no specific requirements to take this course. However, courses in the Business Technology Programs are to be taken in order. The course list can be found on the information sheet for each program or by contacting Student Services.
